About Congregation Shir Ami

Shir Ami is the type of congregation where you can feel at home—whether you’re joining us for a Shabbat service or participating in one of the many activities we offer throughout the year. In either case you can count on meeting a friendly, haimish crowd who will do their best to welcome you.

Rabbi David E. Vorspan provides the spiritual leadership we seek. He leads innovative Shabbat services twice a month, September through June, (see schedule) and provides many other Jewish learning opportunities for us: the weekly tisch (Torah study) at his home and special holiday events during the year.

Congregation Shir Ami is a Conservative congregation and a member of the Pacific Southwest Region of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. Our services are held in de Toledo High School located at 22622 Vanowen St. in West Hills. They are also available on the internet via Zoom and livestream. See home page for more information. We are a community that enjoys celebrating simchas together, but we also know the importance of helping each other during difficult times. In addition to assisting our members when they need our friendship and support, we also reach out to the Jewish and non-Jewish communities around us via our active Social Action Committee.

If you’re looking for a place where people will know who you are (and notice when you’re not there!) and you want to be part of a community where your participation can make a difference, think about coming by to see what we have to offer.

Our current membership rates are as follows:

$600 - Couple
$300 - Single
$1,000 – Sustaining member (single or couple, optional)
$125 – Associate (full member of another congregation)

All prices include High Holy Days tickets (1 or 2)
